A bit of history
Back in the Adobe Flash days, an open-source console was built for Flash called JBConsole.
It gained a bit of popularity, someone also ported to web at some point.

Later, when the move to Unity happened, a simple open-source JBConsole version was put together using Unity IMGUI / OnGUI. Not exactly pretty, but functional (and worked in both runtime and editor window). It was used internally at the previous company.

Now, more than 12 years later, with Unity finally offering a proper UI system for both runtime and editor, the console has been completely rebuilt — much more flexible and feature-rich than before.
